Every dish is reviewed by Maria Gaspard, a licensed dietitian.

Nutrition values (calories, protein, carbs, fat and similar) shown on menus are good-faith estimates based on the recipe and portion information a restaurant provides. Actual values vary with preparation, portion size, substitutions and suppliers.

Where the numbers come from. Ingredient values are taken from public food composition databases: USDA FoodData Central (United States), the Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset (Public Health England, used under the Open Government Licence v3.0) and, for some packaged products, Open Food Facts (Open Database License). Where no record exists for an ingredient, a plain generic equivalent is used and reviewed by our dietitian.

This information is not medical or dietary advice and is not a substitute for professional guidance. If you have a medical condition, allergy or specific dietary needs, consult a qualified professional.

Allergen information may be incomplete. Menus are prepared in kitchens that handle many ingredients, so cross-contamination is possible. Always confirm allergens and preparation directly with restaurant staff before ordering, especially for severe allergies.

Sahteinn helps restaurants publish nutrition-verified menus and helps diners find dishes that fit their goals. When you browse a menu, we record anonymous usage: menu views and QR scans, which dishes are opened and for how long, what is added to an order, what is searched for, which goals or filters diners choose, how long a visit lasts, how far the menu is scrolled and how quickly it loads. Restaurants use it to improve their menus, and we use it to keep the site fast. On Sahteinn's own pages, such as the homepage and pricing, we count only that a page was opened, where the visit came from and the kind of device. We do not ask diners to sign in and do not collect names, contact details or payment information from diners.

How long we keep it. Each visit gets a random number that lasts only that visit, so its parts can be added up. It is forgotten when the tab is closed or after thirty minutes without use, and it cannot connect one visit to the next. Individual visit records are deleted automatically after 35 days. What remains is a daily count per restaurant — totals with nothing in them that could point back to a person or a device.

Cookies and what your browser keeps. We use no advertising or tracking cookies. One cookie remembers the language you chose. Your browser also keeps a few things on your device alone, which never reach us: a plate you are part-way through building on a menu, a form you left unfinished, and — for restaurant owners — the address you signed in with and the restaurant you had open. It also notes whether it has opened that menu, or a Sahteinn page, before; we receive only "first visit" or "returning", never anything that names the device. It holds the visit's random number for that visit only. Clearing your browser data removes all of it.

Where it is held. Menus, accounts and usage counts sit on Google Cloud (Firebase) and are served by Vercel, on servers in the United States. They are encrypted on the way there and while stored.

Your choices. Diners have no account with us and we hold nothing that identifies them, so there is nothing to look up, correct or delete. If you believe we hold something about you, write to hello@sahteinn.com and we will check and act within thirty days.

Children. Sahteinn is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Restaurant owners and our dietitian sign in to manage and verify menus; we store only what is needed to operate their account.

We do not sell personal data. Aggregate, non-identifying insights are shared with the relevant restaurant.

Restaurant owners sign in with an email link, Google or Microsoft. We store the account email, the restaurant's details, its menu and the recipes needed for verification.

Recipes are never shown to guests. They are visible to the Sahteinn verification team only; menus show nutrition figures and the ingredients a restaurant chooses to display.

To run the service we rely on: Google Cloud (Firebase) for data and sign-in, Vercel for hosting, Resend for email, and Anthropic for reading imported menus and drafting nutrition estimates before the dietitian reviews them, and for reading the note a diner writes in Build my order so the menu can respect it. The note is read, not stored: we keep only what it asked for, such as “no peanuts”, never the words. Text sent for processing is not used to train models.

Restaurants can request an export or deletion of their data at any time at hello@sahteinn.com; we complete it within thirty days.

The database refuses every direct connection from a browser. All reading and writing goes through our own server, which checks who is asking on each request. Recipes and account details are never sent to a diner's device.

Signing in is by email link, Google or Microsoft, and only for addresses we have invited — there are no passwords to steal. Removing an address ends that person's access within a minute.

Private documents such as quotations and contracts open only with their own link. Traffic is encrypted, and individual visit records are deleted automatically after 35 days.

If a breach ever affected your data, we would tell the restaurants concerned without undue delay, and say what happened and what we did about it.

Sahteinn provides the platform “as is.” Restaurants are responsible for the accuracy of their menu, prices, ingredients and availability. Verification reflects a dietitian's review of the information provided at that time; it is not a guarantee of any health outcome.

Prices and availability shown may change; confirm with the restaurant. By using Sahteinn you agree to use it lawfully and not to misuse or attempt to disrupt the service.

Who owns what. Restaurants own their menus, recipes and photographs, and answer for their accuracy. Sahteinn owns the platform, its design and its verification method. Nothing here transfers either one.

Limits. We do our work with reasonable skill and care. We are not liable for indirect loss, or for anything arising from information a restaurant gave us that was wrong or out of date.

Governing law. These terms are governed by Lebanese law, and the courts of Beirut have jurisdiction. Where a signed agreement with a restaurant says otherwise, that agreement comes first.
